The Glenn Highway between Chickaloon and Glennallen runs across a long stretch of higher terrain with elevations of 2000-3300 feet MSL. The Alaska DOT RWIS site near Gunsight Mountain (Milepost 117) documented accumulating snow during the early morning of May 30. At 3200 feet MSL, snow here in late May is not at all unusual.
